The European Parliament's Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety has decided to consider possible changes to the Food Contact Materials Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, opening a new project 2015/2259(INI).

DSM has quantified the sustainable advantages of using its cheese ripening solution, Pack-Age, over naturally ripened and coated Gouda and Parmesan cheese. Pack-Age is a moisture-permeable cheese ripening membrane that enables hard to semi-hard cheeses to mature naturally, without the risk of spoilage by mold. As no coating is used in the process, Pack-Age eliminates the formation of strong dry rind.

Het door de EU gefinancierde project PicknPack beoogt het flexibel verpakken en op kwaliteit beoordelen van onder andere tuinbouwproducten en kant-en-klaar maaltijden. Op Wageningen Campus worden op dit moment de hardware modules samengevoegd tot een assemblagelijn.

The safety and quality control of food, particularly meat and seafood, have attracted increasing attention due to health and economic concerns. Given that ammonia and biogenic amines (BAs) are released during the decomposition of meat protein, the sensitive detection of the released BAs is crucial to the assessment of the safety and quality of meat products.

De 12e Plastics Caps and Closures Conferentie vond plaats op 4 en 5 november in Nice. NVC hield een keynote lezing met als titel: Opening future business innovations in caps & closures: the role of financing and education.

De beste strategie in verpakken is focussen op de synergiën in het toepassen, fabriceren en recyclen van de verschillende verpakkingsmaterialen. Ogenschijnlijk tegenstrijdige belangen moeten en kunnen met succes met elkaar in overeenstemming worden gebracht als we investeren in de People factor van duurzame ontwikkeling: onze eigen kennis, vaardigheden en attitude.

Uit onderzoek van Wageningen UR (WUR) blijkt dat onder vitale ouderen grote verschillen bestaan in de manier waarop ze voedsel waarnemen, waarderen en innemen. Om de kwaliteit en de kwantiteit van de voedselinname voor deze groep te verbeteren, zijn producten en interventies op maat nodig.

Door het samengestelde karakter van veel voedingsmiddelen, verschillen in voedingswetgeving en de diversiteit en veranderlijkheid van voedingsmiddelen zijn volledigheid en betrouwbaarheid van productinformatie belangrijke aandachtspunten.
